Ontario-Grown Music Seed Garlic

Music is a popular hardneck garlic variety known for large cloves, strong flavour and excellent performance in Canadian growing conditions. Our garlic is grown in Ontario and is available in multiple bulb sizes so you can choose the planting stock that fits your acreage, budget and goals.

Seed garlic is offered in Medium through Super Colossal sizes. Small and X-Small garlic are not offered as seed garlic.

Seed Garlic Sizes & Approximate Cloves per Pound

  • Medium (1.75″–2.00″): approximately 65–80 cloves per lb
  • Large (2.00″–2.25″): approximately 50–65 cloves per lb
  • X-Large (2.25″–2.50″): approximately 45–55 cloves per lb
  • Jumbo (2.50″–2.75″): approximately 35–45 cloves per lb
  • Colossal (2.75″–3.00″): approximately 30–40 cloves per lb
  • Super Colossal (3.00″+): approximately 25–35 cloves per lb

Clove counts are estimates and naturally vary from bulb to bulb.

How to Plant Music Garlic

Separate bulbs into individual cloves shortly before planting. Plant each clove with the pointed end up. Planting depth and spacing can be adjusted for your soil, equipment and growing system.

How Much Seed Garlic Do I Need?

The amount required depends on bulb size, clove count and your planting layout. Medium bulbs generally provide more planting cloves per pound, while larger bulbs provide fewer but larger cloves. If you tell us your acreage and planting plan, Shnab’s can help estimate the pounds of seed garlic required.
